The horticulture industry marked an in important milestone on 21/07/17 following the re-launch of the Kenya Horticultural Council, the KS 1758 Part 2-fruits 7 vegetables and the Quality Management System (QMS) for KS 1758 Part 1-flowers & ornamentals and Part 2.  The Kenya Horticultural Council is an umbrella body bringing together leading horticulture associations in Kenya namely the Kenya Flower Council (KFC), the Fresh Produce Exporters Association of Kenya (FPEAK) and the Kenya Exporters of Fruits & Vegetables (KEFE).  The overarching objective of the Council is to provide high level lobbying, advocacy, and capacity building for sustained market access for Kenya Horticulture products. The re-launch which took place in Nairobi was attended by relevant partner government agencies-the Kenya Plant Health Inspectorate Service (KEPHIS, Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS), the Horticulture Crop Directorate (HCD) and KENTRADE.  Also in attendance were growers, exporters, horticulture industry service providers, the National Potato Council of Kenya, Royal Flora Holland, development partners-representatives from the embassy of the Royal Kingdom of the Netherlands-Nairobi and the German Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the European Union.  The event was co-sponsored by the USAID’s Kenya Agricultural Value Chain Enterprises Project and Elgon Kenya
